Ethics and Policy

Our project focuses on shaping ethical guidelines and policies concerning the utilization of Artificial Intelligence (AI) within the educational sector, particularly in handling sensitive data pertaining to minors and mental health detection. This work is pivotal in establishing trust and ethical standards in implementing AI within educational environments, especially when dealing with sensitive topics like mental health among minors.

The main result of this work package will be a series of publications, guidelines, and standards for the ethical application of AI in the educational field. Building upon the existing EU ethical guidelines on the use of AI and data in teaching and learning for educators, our findings will enable organizations to use AI as a tool for identifying and preventing mental health disorders of secondary school teachers.

Digital Learning Platform

The Digital Learning Platform concentrates on establishing a secure digital learning environment. It aims to increase awareness among teachers, educators, parents, and caregivers regarding the early signs of mental health issues, such as self-harm, and suicidal tendencies. The platform will also support teenagers in understanding and managing their feelings and mental well-being, providing education on emotional intelligence. Last but not least, it will enhance the knowledge about nature-based and sustainable activities as preventive and therapeutic measures for mental health and overall well-being.

AI Chatbot

This AI Chatbot will be a tool specifically tailored for detecting mental health disorders in teenagers with the specific objectives:

  • Early Detection: The tool will be capable of identifying early signs of mental health disorders among teenagers. It will prompt timely interventions, raise awareness among teenagers and adults about vulnerable situations, and facilitate immediate therapeutic actions, potentially incorporating nature-based activities for mental well-being.
  • Privacy Preservation: The tool will ensure the utmost privacy for the teenagers involved. This aligns with the overarching project objective of fostering a safe environment where mental health stigma is eradicated, allowing teenagers to freely express themselves and seek support. The tool’s design will prioritize confidentiality and security of the collected data.
  • Accuracy and Accessibility: The tool will aid teachers, educators, parents, and caregivers in detecting mental health disorders. It will enhance education and raise awareness among adults regarding early signs of mental health issues in teenagers. The tool will be user-friendly, benefiting both teenagers and healthcare professionals, providing personalized treatment suggestions.
